About Job/Description:
Under the overall supervision of the WHO representative the incumbent is expected to undertake the following duties:
Laboratory Technician | WHO Pakistan-April 2021
Responsibility:
- Receive and Process blood samples from suspected Measles/Rubella cases received in the laboratory.
- Testing of clinically suspected measles/rubella virus cases using IgM ELISA Kits.
- Laboratory data entry and computerized report preparation
- Processing of throat/oral swabs specimens and Laboratory testing and genotyping of Measles and Rubella virus
- Molecular detection of Measles/Rubella infection using real-time and RT-PCR.
- Virus Isolation through cell culture techniques
- Reporting Results to EPI and WHO-EMRO
- Preparation of Measles/Rubella virus specimen for shipment to RRL
- Undertake other relevant duties as directed by the laboratory supervisor.
Requirements :
B.S, Microbiology
At least six months working experience in Virology Laboratory, preferably in Measles and Rubella virus diagnostic section.
ELISA, HA, HAI, Virus isolation, cell culture, RNA extraction, RT-PCR, Gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid purification, etc.
